Words to Live By #20

I saw today’s Marc and Angel post and I have to share it as my latest installment of Words to Live By. Virtually every one of the 11 statements resonated with and for me. I hope you’ll find some you like, too.

Here it is:
11 Promises You Must Make to Yourself

And here’s an image that fits with the above link. I find I like many Mary Anne Radmacher quotes and I’m thrilled to share this beautiful quoto today.

Happy 2nd Wedding Anniversary

We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.
~ Frederick Koenig

Today marks two years since C and I stood in front of Jasper’s Pyramid Lake and declared our love in front of our family members. I remember how filled with love my heart was that day.

It is so easy to close my eyes and go right back to that day – I can feel the breeze lifting wisps of my hair, I can hear my heart beat, and I can see the pride in my parents’ eyes.

In what has become true N&C fashion, what one of us does, the other balances out and so as we stood facing each other, our hands joined, my vows brought tears (of joy and gratitude) and C’s vows brought laughter (he ended up needing to pull out his iPhone as the marriage commissioner didn’t see the email he had sent).

In the quiet beauty of Jasper, we took another step in our journey together. It is one that has been filled with laughter and tears (mostly of joy and gratitude) and a whole lot of unconditional love.

So here’s to celebrating all of our milestones – the weeks, the months, and the years.

It will never cease to amaze me that the secret to a happy marriage is an attitude of gratitude.

And to conclude this blog entry, here are fitting excerpts from two of our wedding songs:

“You’re the reason I believe in love. And you’re the answer to my prayers from up above. All we need is just the two of us. My dreams cam true because of you.”
(Shania Twain’s From This Moment On)

“And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles.”
(Led Zeppelin’s Thank You)

Like many people, I start my week off with a to-do list. Recently, I found a to-do list that I like better and that resonates with me more than my weekly one. I’m sharing it in the hopes that one item will jump out for you and will be the “to do” that rocks this week. Have a good one!

Remember adults telling us to treat others as we wish to be treated?

Here’s a great example of that:

Today I helped an old woman get her groceries into a crowded subway car. I made sure she got a seat and was settled in before I quickly shuffled back out the doors. I waved at her as it pulled away. Several of the people waiting stared at me. “Why did you do that?” a middle aged businessman asked. I shrugged and responded, “Why not? Maybe someday a kid will do that for me.” MMT

Think on These Things #12

Today marks the 11th anniversary of the day the world changed forever. It’s a good time to reflect on some words of wisdom from Nelson Mandela.
